This is the DIRA2 (Distributed Information Retrieval from Astronomical files)
manual. The manual contains information useful both for the User and for the
DBA (Data Base Administrator).
The manual is divided into 7 chapters.
contain the list of the catalogues available in DIRA2 format
and items for reference purposes.
- In chapter 1
the DIRA2 features and capabilities are shortly outlined.
- In the chapter 2
you will find a description of the commands, of the
query language and of the set up keywords.
- In chapter 3
you will find the description of the of catalogues and
field structure and the description of the DIRA2 system files. You must
read this chapter when you want include new catalogues in the database.
- The chapter 4
describe the use of the Personal Data Base system.
- The chapter 5
is devoted to the full explanation of the available
DIRA2 commands, with examples.
- Chapter 6
shows the use of the graphic tasks.
- Chapter 7
is reserved for the data base administrator, and describe
how to install and manage the DIRA2 database.
The users are strongly recommended to read chapters 1,2,5,6 before using
massively DIRA2 with the existing catalogues. Chapter 3 and 4 can help
to insert new data and to work with the Personal Data base.
