The System Files

All the operations carried out in DIRA2 refer to a series of files which contain the information about the catalogues and the definitions of the system. The files are in the [DIRADATA] directory and are managed by the data base administrator. When a Personal Data Base is created, empty system files are created in the user directory. These files can be filled and managed by PDB_MANAG command. When an user selects data from an existing catalogue and write a new catalogue in the PDB, all the required information are automatically written inside the system files.

The relationships between the data within the system files are updated when new catalogues are written. So, if a command is interrupted by a wrong user action or by a system crash this file can loose the internal pointers. The command PDB_PACK will rebuild the pointers of these files.
