Catalogues items

For each catalogue a record exists in the file DIRACAT.DB that contains the description of the catalogue data. The fields of this records are called catalogue items.

They are:

CAT NAME
The name of the catalogue in DIRA. This field can not be modified because is an internal pointer in the system files. When an user wants to change the catalogue name he must firstable copy the items (using PDB_COPY command) and then delete the old description.

FILE NAME
The name of the file of the catalogue data

N.CHR RECORD
The length of the catalogue records in characters

NUM RECORD
The number of records in the catalogue

N.VARIABLES
Number of fields in the catalogues

LAN/REMOTE
Specifies if the catalogue is on another node of a network; this field can assume the values L when the other node is in a local area network and R when the node is remote. When the catalogue file is on the same computer where also DIRA2 is, this field is unfilled

NODE NAME
When the catalogue data are on a network node the name of the node must be defined here.

DEVICE NAME
This field is used when the catalogue is on a mountable media. The codes MT: and DK: define that the media is a tape or a disk, this code is followed by media label. (i.e. MT:LABEL2). The logical MT: and DK: point to the keywords TAPE and DISK assigned at system level in the file SETUP.DAT (see chapter ) and at user level in the file SETUP.PDB (see section ).

PATH
Directory path where the catalogue is stored.

EPOCH
Year of the measurement of the catalogues coordinates. This value is used in the proper motions corrections, when this data is not present in the catalogue fields.

EQUINOX
Equinox year to which the coordinates refer.

RA PREC
Code that define the number of significant digits in the values of the first coordinate. This code has value from 1 to 9 and points to the last significant digit with this convention:
HH MM SS.cccc DDD.cccccccc
                   1 23 45 6789 1 23456789

DEC PREC
Code that define the number of significant digits in the values of the second coordinate. This code has value from 1 to 9 and point the last significant digit with this convention:
DD PP SS.cccc DDD.cccccccc
                   1 23 45 6789 1 23456789

SORT 1
The name of the field that is a sort key of the catalogue.

SORT 2
A second field that is a catalogue sort key (if exists).

VERSABILITY
When the catalogue is on a mountable media and this flag is set to Y the catalogue is copied in a scratch area before the use.
