The E-mail interrogation of Skyeye


You can get data from SkyEye sending a mail to skyeye@ira.cnr.it. The mail must contain, in the body of the message, a set of keywords that define options and coordinates of the images. The images extracted by SkyEye will be stored in the in FTP-anonymous pub/SkyEye directory on the host db.ira.inaf.it
To submit a valid query, your mail has to start with a

SKYEYE INTERROGATION

You can choose your set of specifications (keywords followed by value) valid for all the requested images as

EQUINOX (1950/[2000])

FORMAT ([FITS]/GEIS)

COMPRESSION (GZIP/[COMPRESS]/ZIP/NO)

NEAREST ([YES]/NO)

ONLYHEADER (YES/[NO])

EXTR_INFO (YES/[NO])

The meaning of these keyword is the same of the interctive interrogation (see usage). Squared values show the defaults.

Image requests must start with the keyword

COORDINATES

followed by a list of rows each one containing one request.

Valid requests have to have one of these forms:

Up to 4 characters chosen among letters, numbers and underscore are permitted for the name.

Valid separators are blank(s), colon, comma, semi-colomn. The separator between sign and dd can be omitted.

All the options are case insensible.

You have at your disposition up to 50 Mbyte for 3 days. Data are processed up to the completion of your quota. Requests exceeding the quota are not processed.

Valid requests are processed, the invalid ones (or the part that is not valid) are mailed back with a short explication.

A first mail, will inform you that your request has been accepted and will contain your request as interpreted by the batch (coordinates are transformed in the hh mm ss.f S dd mm ss.f format).

A second mail, will inform you that the extraction has been completed and it will contain a shell script to be run to automatically retreive your images.
